about me
Biography
I'm a portrait photographer from Perth, Western Australia. While I do this mainly as a hobby, I am serious about getting top quality professional results. I charge only a minimal amount to offset the cost of my camera equipment and studio.
Although most of my experience has been in glamour and fashion style shoots, my main passion would be fine art portraiture, which I think is just a pretentious way of saying portraits which tell a story. I love photos that rather than just make the subject look good, that tell a story or make you think about an issue in another way.
In my other life I am a junior doctor at a major teaching hospital in Perth. I am also very politically active (leftist liberal hippy) and passionate about social justice and human rights issues.
I shoot with Nikon DSLR cameras and currently have a Nikon D700 and a D90 with a range of Nikkor, Sigma, Tamron and Tokina lenses. I have both studio lighting equipment and small portable flashes for location work. I will soon be embarking on the adventure of wedding and event photography to broaden my portfolio. In my spare time I also enjoy macro, still life and landscape photography.
I am hugely flexible and very enthusiastic to work with a wide range of people. Please dont hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments or feedback. Even if you just want advice on what camera to buy, Im always happy to discuss photography. If you're thinking of doing a shoot for the first time and you're a little bit nervous, don't worry, with my goofy sense of humour you will be the least embarrassing person in the room!
